Frequently Asked questions
BNETA Pet Range
(Applies to Smart Feeders, F14-W, F1-D, AI Bird Feeders, and Water Fountains).
What happens to my BNETA Smart Pet Feeder if the power goes out or Wi-Fi drops?
Your pet won’t go hungry! BNETA Smart Feeders feature a Dual Power Supply system. If there is a load-shedding block or power failure, the feeder automatically switches over to its backup battery supply. Pre-scheduled feeding times are saved locally on the device’s internal memory, meaning it will continue to dispense food on time even without a Wi-Fi connection.
Note: Remote manual feeding via the app will be unavailable until Wi-Fi is restored.
How often do I need to replace the filters and desiccants?
Pet Water Fountains (W1, W2, W4, W7): To keep water fresh and protect the pump motor from hair or debris, filters should be replaced every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the number of pets using it.
Smart Feeders: The fresh-keeping desiccant packs located inside the lid should be replaced once a month to prevent moisture build-up and keep kibble crunchy.
Can I use wet food in the BNETA Automatic Feeders?
Standard models like the F14-L, F14-W, and F1-D are strictly designed for dry kibble (recommended size between 2mm-15mm (refer to user manual) provided with the applicable model) to prevent internal jamming. If you need to feed wet food, you should use our dedicated BNETA Pet Automatic Wet Food Battery Feeder (F26), which uses specialized compartment trays.
Why is my smart feeder jamming or making a straining noise?
This is almost always caused by kibble size or moisture. BNETA feeders are calibrated for standard dry kibble between 2mm-15mm (refer to user manual) in diameter.
- Avoid irregularly shaped, oversized, or highly oily freeze-dried kibble, which can clump together.
- Maintenance Tip: Overfilling the hopper creates excessive downward weight on the dispensing wheel. Keep the hopper filled to about 75% capacity, and routinely wipe down the internal rotor channel with a dry microfibre cloth to clear out kibble dust and oil buildup.
The feeder won't connect during initial app pairing. How do I fix this?
Smartphone background restrictions often interrupt the initial pairing handshake.
- Make sure you grant the BNETA IoT full permissions for Location Services (GPS) and Bluetooth in your phone settings while pairing. If your phone is connected to multiple devices already, please disconnect them to ensure a smooth pairing process.
- If pairing fails repeatedly, locate the physical reset button, hold it down until you hear a beep or see the indicator light flash rapidly, and try again.
Why does the app say "Feeder Offline," but my home Wi-Fi is working perfectly?
This usually happens if the feeder’s connection to your router is interrupted or timed out.
- Signal Strength: Smart feeders are often placed low to the ground or tucked into corners where Wi-Fi signals can be blocked by furniture or walls. Check the signal strength in the app; if it’s below 60%, try moving the feeder closer to your router.
- IP Conflicts: If your home experienced a brief power fluctuation, your router may have assigned the feeder’s IP address to another device. Power cycle the feeder by unplugging the power cable, removing the backup batteries for 10 seconds, and plugging it back in to force it to reconnect.
Why is the video stream laggy, or why can't I hear my pet through the camera models (F14-W / AI Bird Feeder)?
Video streaming requires a much higher upload speed than simple feeding schedules.
- Ensure your home internet has an upload speed of at least 2–4 Mbps.
- In the live camera view within the app, you can switch the video quality from HD (High Definition) to SD (Standard Definition). This reduces data consumption and provides a much smoother stream on slower networks.
- Audio Tip: Ensure you have granted the app permission to access your smartphone’s microphone in your phone’s main settings menu if you wish to use the two-way talk feature.
How do I share access to the feeder with other family members?
- Have your family member download the app and create their own account.
- On the primary phone, open the feeder settings, select “Share Device,” and enter their registered email address.
- They will receive an invitation to control the feeder and view the camera stream instantly.
Can I save multiple custom voice recordings for different feeding times?
Standard models support one primary custom voice recording (up to 10 seconds) that plays automatically right before a meal is dispensed. If you want to change it for a specific routine, you must record a new one, which will overwrite the previous clip.
The water fountain pump is suddenly making a loud, rattling noise. Is it broken?
A noisy pump is almost never broken; it is usually telling you one of two things:
- Low Water Level: If the water level drops below the minimum threshold, the pump will draw in air bubbles, creating a loud humming or sucking noise. Fill the reservoir to the max line immediately.
- Debris Blockage: Even with a filter, pet hair and slime can bypass the outer casing and wrap around the internal magnetic impeller.
- The Fix: Unplug the fountain, take the pump completely apart (pull off the front cover and slide out the little plastic propeller), and rinse it under warm running water. Removing trapped hair will instantly restore quiet operation.
BNETA IoT & Smart Lighting
(Applies to Neon Ropes, Smart Bulbs, Projectors, and TV Sync Backlights)
Do I need a smart hub or bridge to control BNETA Smart Plugs and Lights?
No extra hardware is required. All BNETA IoT devices feature built-in Wi-Fi modules that connect directly to your home router. You can control everything seamlessly through the BNETA IoT app.
My BNETA Smart Bulb or LED Strip is offline or won't pair. What is the cause?
BNETA IoT devices communicate strictly on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi frequency band to ensure a long connection range through walls.
- If your home router uses a combined dual-band system (broadcasting 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the exact same Wi-Fi name), your smartphone might be forcing the setup process onto the 5GHz band, which the light cannot see.
- Tip: Temporarily turn off the 5GHz band in your router’s administrative settings during setup, or step further away from your router into another room to force your smartphone onto the broader 2.4GHz signal.
Can I use BNETA smart bulbs with external wall dimmer switches?
No. BNETA smart lighting features built-in digital dimming components. Connecting them to a physical, analog wall dimmer switch restricts the continuous voltage the bulb needs to stay smart, leading to flickering, constant offline dropouts, or internal circuit damage. Keep the physical wall switch turned on completely and adjust brightness via the app or voice commands.
How do I reset a BNETA Smart Bulb to put it back into pairing mode?
If you need to move the bulb to a new network or start fresh, perform the universal reset sequence: turn the physical power switch OFF—ON—OFF—ON—OFF—ON (with a 1-second pause between each toggle). The light bulb will begin flashing rapidly, indicating it is ready to pair.
Can I control my BNETA Smart Lights when I am away from home?
Yes! As long as your home Wi-Fi router is online and connected to the internet, you can control your lights from anywhere in the world. Whether you are at the office or traveling abroad, you can use your cellular data to turn lights on/off, check if you accidentally left them running, or activate “Away Mode” to simulate someone being home for security.
Do BNETA Smart Lights support Apple HomeKit or Siri Shortcuts?
While BNETA products primarily integrate natively with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, you can still use Siri to control them via iOS.
- Open the BNETA app, create a “Tap-to-Run” smart scene (e.g., “Turn off all lounge lights”), and tap the “Add to Siri” button at the bottom right of the scene card.
- You can then record a custom voice phrase, allowing you to control your lighting seamlessly using Siri commands on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
Why does the "Music Sync" mode lag, or why aren't the lights reacting to my music?
BNETA lights typically use one of two methods for music synchronization:
- Smartphone Microphone Mode: The lights sync via the app using your phone’s microphone. For this to work smoothly, the app must remain open in the foreground, and your phone’s main settings must grant the app “Always Allow Microphone Access.” If your phone screen locks, the sync will pause.
- Built-in Controller Microphone Mode: Higher-end BNETA strips and neon ropes have a tiny microphone built directly into the physical control box attached to the power cord. If this isn’t reacting, ensure the control box isn’t hidden deep behind a TV or inside a cabinet where sound is muffled. You can also adjust the microphone sensitivity slider directly in the app to make it pick up quieter ambient sound.
BNETA Dash Cams
(Applies to F300 and F410 multi-channel recording setups)
What is the "24-Hour Parking Monitor," and do I need anything extra for it?
The Parking Monitor ensures your car is recorded even when parked and turned off. If the camera detects an impact or motion, it wakes up and records. To use this feature without draining your car’s main battery, you must install the Hardwire Kit, which wires directly into your vehicle’s fuse box and safely manages voltage.
What type of MicroSD card should I use in my BNETA Dash Cam?
Because dash cams constantly overwrite video loops, they require high-endurance memory cards. We recommend using a Class 10, U3 High-Endurance MicroSD card (up to the maximum capacity stated in your manual). Standard SD cards will degrade quickly under continuous write cycles and cause recording errors.
Why is my dash cam telling me the memory card is full? Shouldn’t it loop record?
Yes, BNETA dash cams utilize Loop Recording, meaning they automatically overwrite the oldest video clip when the MicroSD card runs out of space. However, if your card is “full,” it is almost always because the G-Sensor (Gravity Sensor) sensitivity is set too high.
- The G-Sensor automatically locks and protects video files when it detects a sudden impact or crash, preventing them from being overwritten.
- If you drive over severe potholes, speed bumps, or rough gravel roads with a highly sensitive G-Sensor, the camera mistakes these vibrations for collisions. Over time, these locked “Emergency” files fill up the entire memory card.
- The Fix: Go into the dash cam settings menu and change the G-Sensor sensitivity to Low. Then, manually format the memory card within the camera settings to clear out the old accumulated locked files.
Can I leave the dash cam in my car under direct sunlight during hot summer days?
BNETA dash cams are built with automotive-grade internal components engineered to handle standard cabin temperatures. However, parking your vehicle directly under the baking sun with all windows rolled up can cause cabin temperatures to spike well beyond normal thresholds.
Tip: If you park in an open, unshaded parking lot for extended hours during a heatwave, we recommend pulling the dash cam off its slide-in mount and sliding it into your glove compartment out of direct sunlight. This protects the lens optics and preserves the long-term health of the internal battery.
Does the dash cam record audio inside the cabin, and can I turn it off?
Yes, all BNETA dash cams feature an internal microphone that records cabin audio by default alongside the video. If you prefer strict privacy during personal conversations or phone calls:
- You can turn audio recording off permanently via the system settings menu in the app or on the device screen.
BNETA Smart Plugs
Can I use my BNETA Smart Plug to automate my pool pump or geyser?
We highly advise against this. Standard BNETA Smart Plugs are designed for residential appliances up to 16A, but pool pumps and geyser elements have massive inductive start-up loads (surge currents) that can be up to 3 times higher than their running wattage.
- This initial surge can instantly weld the internal mechanical relay switches together, causing the plug to freeze in a permanent “ON” or “OFF” position or fail entirely.
- For pool pumps or geysers, look for specialized heavy-duty industrial contactors or smart switches designed for high-inductive loads rather than a standard plug-in adapter.
Will my smart plug still run its scheduled timers if my home internet goes completely offline?
Yes, but only for schedules that were created and synced before the internet dropped.
- BNETA Smart Plugs have an internal chip that stores your basic automated schedules locally. As long as the plug remains powered by electricity, it will execute its on/off timers on time without an internet connection.
- Limitations: If the plug loses power completely during the offline period (e.g., during a power cut), its internal clock will lose track of time. It will not know when to trigger until it re-establishes a brief internet connection to sync its clock back to global time.
Can I use a BNETA Smart Plug outdoors if it is undercover?
- No. Standard 2-pin and 3-pin BNETA smart plugs are rated strictly for indoor use (IP20 rating).
- Even if placed on an undercover patio or veranda out of direct rain, ambient outdoor moisture, evening dew, and high humidity can seep through the casing holes. This can corrode the internal Wi-Fi module or cause a hazardous electrical short.
- For outdoor water features or garden lights, you must house the smart plug inside an explicitly rated, weatherproof outdoor electrical enclosure block.
Does the smart plug still monitor electricity usage if my Wi-Fi router is turned off?
-
Yes, but it cannot display it to you in real time.
- For models built with Power Metering/Monitoring, the dedicated internal energy metering chip continues tracking electricity consumption and data metrics on its local storage registers even if the internet drops.
- The moment your Wi-Fi router powers back up and the plug successfully re-handshakes with the cloud servers, it logs the accumulated data and updates your historical app charts automatically.
My smart plug randomly clicks and shuts off by itself while an appliance is running. Why?
If there are no automated timers or schedules running, this is usually caused by the plug’s built-in Overload / Overcurrent Protection.
- When a connected appliance spikes in power consumption and exceeds the plug’s strict safety threshold (typically 16A), the plug instantly cuts power to eliminate fire hazards and protect its internal circuits.
- The Fix: Unplug the appliance and check its manufacturer label for peak power draw. If the appliance is within limits but continues to trip, try plugging the smart plug into a different wall outlet—unstable or dropping household line voltage can cause current to spike unnaturally.
BNETA Smart Body Scales
(Applies to CS20A, CS20M, and Dual-Frequency BIA models)
How do BNETA Smart Scales calculate body composition metrics?
Our smart scales utilize Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology. When you step onto the scale barefoot, a safe, unnoticeable, low-level electrical current passes through your lower body. Because fat, muscle, and water resist electricity differently, the scale accurately calculates your body fat percentage, muscle mass, BMI, and metabolic age.
Can multiple family members use the same BNETA scale?
Yes! BNETA Smart Scales support unlimited user registration via the app. The scale is intelligent enough to automatically detect and assign the data to the correct profile based on previous weight metrics when a user steps on it.
Why is my scale only showing my weight and not calculation of the other 12 metrics?
The scale requires a direct, closed loop to measure body composition using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). If you are only seeing your weight, check the following:
- Are you barefoot? The scale cannot pass a BIA current through socks, shoes, or stockings. You must step onto the metal/conductive glass plates completely barefoot.
- Are your feet too dry? Extremely dry skin acts as an electrical insulator. Wipe your feet with a slightly damp cloth before stepping onto the scale to improve conductivity.
- Did you step off too quickly? Wait until the LED display stabilizes and the data transmission animation finishes before stepping down.
Do I need to have the Feelfit App open every single time I weigh myself?
No! BNETA scales feature Offline Weighing Storage. Thanks to our High Reliability Link System (HRLS), if your phone is off, in another room, or out of battery, the scale will silently record your weight and composition metrics locally in its internal memory. The next time your phone connects to the scale via Bluetooth, all stored data will automatically upload and map to the correct user account.
How does the scale distinguish between multiple family members?
The Feelfit App allows unlimited user profile registrations. The system utilizes intelligent automatic user detection based on historical data. If you and a family member have distinctly different body metrics, the scale recognizes who is standing on it and routes the data to the correct profile.
Note: If two family members are exceptionally close in weight and body composition, the app may prompt you on your dashboard to manually select and confirm which user profile the new data belongs to.
Why do my metrics fluctuate if I weigh myself multiple times in one day?
This is completely normal and is a reflection of your body’s changing hydration status, not a flaw in the scale. BIA technology is highly sensitive to the fluid levels in your tissues.
- Your weight, body water percentage, and body fat calculations can shift after eating a large meal, drinking water, working out, or sitting in a sauna.
- Best Practice: For the most accurate tracking, weigh yourself once a day, at the exact same time—ideally first thing in the morning, barefoot, after using the bathroom and before consuming any food or liquids.
Can I sync my BNETA health data with other fitness tracking applications?
Yes. The Feelfit app is designed to be highly collaborative. You can set it to automatically sync your 13 key health metrics (such as BMI, Visceral Fat, and Muscle Mass) directly into third-party ecosystems including Apple Health, Google Fit, and the Fitbit App. This integration can be activated via the app settings menu.
Why am I getting an "Err" or "Lo" message on the LED display?
These are standard hardware indicators built into BNETA’s Ultra Durable Weighing System (UDWS):
- “Lo”: The 3 or 4 AAA batteries are running low on voltage and need to be replaced. Always replace them with brand-new alkaline batteries.
- “Err” / “Overload”: The scale has exceeded its maximum weight limit threshold of 180kg, or the sensors are experiencing temporary uneven pressure.
Is the BNETA Smart Scale safe for pregnant women or individuals with pacemakers?
Pacemakers/Internal Medical Devices: Anyone with an internal cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted electronic medical device should not use the smart features of this scale. The tiny electrical pulse sent during BIA testing could potentially interfere with the operation of these devices.
Pregnancy: While the low current is perfectly safe, body composition calculations (like body fat and water retention) will not be accurate due to the natural fluid shifts during pregnancy. If pregnant, you should consult your doctor, or use the scale purely for standard weight tracking.
How should I clean and store my smart scale to preserve its accuracy?
To protect the 4 conductive aluminium alloy sectors and the tempered glass finish:
- Wipe the surface down with a damp microfibre cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical detergents or abrasive scrubbers that can scratch the conductive film.
- Storage Tip: Always place the scale on a flat, hard, and even floor surface (like tile or hardwood). Do not place it on carpets or rugs, as soft surfaces absorb downward force and cause the scale to register inaccurate, lower weights.
